The separate survivor benefit
The Lifeline survivor benefit has a separate set of requirements under the Safe Connections Act. It is not fully assessed by our standard federal eligibility checker. You do not need to disclose survivor status to this website.
Use the official source
USAC explains the conditions for emergency Lifeline support, including documentation of an attempted line separation request and financial hardship. The official page covers the program’s duration, application steps, and documents.
Additional qualifying criteria can apply, including income at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines, WIC, qualifying school meal participation, and a Federal Pell Grant in the current award year. Those criteria should not be confused with the standard federal Lifeline program list.
A standard checker is not enough
A result that identifies no standard qualifying basis does not determine whether you can receive the survivor benefit. Read USAC’s separate instructions before drawing a conclusion. Our website cannot confirm documentation, account circumstances, or eligibility.
Keep disclosures within the official process
